In 2022, BVSC will continue to implement a volunteer program called "Bringing Warmth to the Highlands" in Nam Chay commune, Van Ban district, Lao Cai province. Nam Chay is the highest locality with an altitude of 2,875m. The terrain is difficult and the road system is weak, so residential clusters live far apart; Therefore, the transportation of necessities and trade of people in the District is especially difficult. The entire commune has 535 households, mainly of the Mong ethnic group, with 3,285 people, including 1,196 children and 1,193 ethnic minority children. The commune's poverty rate is 55.1% (295 poor households), currently one of the communes with the highest poverty rate in Lao Cai province with a limited educational level.
With the spirit of mutual affection, we wish to contribute a small part of our effort to improve the living and learning conditions for students in kindergartens and primary schools, as well as partly support people in the community. Nam Chay commune overcomes difficulties, solidifies houses and roads in the approaching cold winter. The BVSC charity group traveled more than 300 km to reach Nam Chay commune, Van Ban district, Lao Cai. However, to reach the deepest school in the commune, the group spent more than 1 hour riding a motorbike and walking on the road. The 8km mountain road has many muddy and slippery potholes.
It can be seen that the living and learning conditions of the people and students here are still limited and lacking. BVSC organized the giving of more than 500 gifts worth nearly 400 million VND including cold clothes, blankets, rice and water tanks, construction materials... to students and helped kindergartens and primary schools in region 3 communes.
